Elorapalooza

From a very early age, Elora had a variety of special needs. Despite her physical difficulties, Elora loved 5K races. Although she would complete the course long after the other runners crossed the finish line, this never kept her from encouraging others along the way. She brought out the best in others, and the Elora’s H.O.P.E. Fund, created in her name and spirit, wants to continue this tall order.

Elorapalooza was started to raise funds in memory of Elora Geier. We have had ten successful Elorapaloozas with over 400 people participating each year and many local businesses, including Allegheny Health Network, supporting our cause. These events have raised more than $155,000 to benefit the Elora’s H.O.P.E. Fund. The Fund supports blood cancer research, provides scholarship funds for local students majoring in Special Education and now also makes grants to cover non-medical needs of cancer patients and their families.

2016 marked our 11th Annual Elorapalooza 5K/1-Mile Walk, Run or Lollygag, which took place on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at the North Park Boat House.

Thanks to all those who participated by running, sponsoring and volunteering. The awards ceremony and free picnic for participants and their families was attended by many and could not have been possible without the donations of food, auction items, prizes and live music.

Even though this year’s event is over, you can still support this great cause through your online donation.
